You are: The Mama Bear

Illustration of Mama Bear character

You go above and beyond to keep your friends safe in social situations. The buddy system, hydration, and “text me when you get home” are some of your go-to’s.

It’s not your job to take care of everyone, but it might as well be. You have given your jacket, your trash can, your pillow, and your last box of crackers to a friend who didn’t know her limits. Whether or not your friends always appreciate it, your heightened sense of security comes from the heart.

Everyone should have a friend like you—including you. In the midst of taking care of everyone else, don’t forget to take care of yourself.

Your party strength

You make sure everyone drinks enough water.

Party smarter

Use these party tricks to keep yourself and others safe.

  • Make a game plan—before anyone starts drinking—and make sure everyone knows the plan before heading out.
  • Choose a designated driver. Make sure they keep their promise not to drink.
  • Never drive after drinking.
  • Do the right thing if a friend passes out. Call 911 immediately, put them on their side to prevent choking on their own vomit, and monitor them closely until an ambulance arrives. If they stop breathing, perform CPR or find someone who knows how.
